Best Baked Ziti
  • 1 (15 oz) container ricotta 

  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, divided 

  • 3 tbsp heavy cream or whole milk 

  • 3 cloves, garlic, grated 

  • 1 egg 

  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional) 

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella

  • 2 tbsp oil 

  • 1 bottle pasta sauce 

  • 1 small onion, diced (optional) 

  • 1 box ziti noodles, cooked just al dente 

  • Salt and pepper to taste 


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the ricotta, ½ cup parmesan, cream or milk, garlic and egg. Season with some salt and pepper. Set aside. 

  2. Add oil to the bottom of your pan. 

  3. Add half the pasta sauce and half your onion, if using along with ¼ teaspoon of chili flakes. 

  4. Add half your pasta and mix. Top with dollops of ricotta, half your shredded mozzarella and half of the fresh mozzarella. Repeat another layer. Top with the remaining parmesan. 

  5. Bake at 375℉ for 25-30 minutes uncovered. You may want to place it on a sheet pan to catch any drips. Then place under the broiler for 2-4 minutes to get a bit browned and crispy 

  6. Top with more salt and pepper and wait approximately 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
